The hike we missed this year: Yarigatake.

I was really hoping to go back to Yarigatake this year with Darren, Dave and Donny but it didn't happen. Unfortunately, because of bad weather and sold out bus tickets we couldn't go this year. However, I can show you some of the pictures I took last year when I went. Yarigatake is in Naganao prefecture. The mountain is 3200 metres high (the fifth tallest in Japan). There are several different paths you can take. My friend and I chose the most direct path. It was a three day excursion. The hike began at Shinhotaka onsen. From here, we hiked to the first cabin and set up camp. On the second day we hiked up to the top of Yarigatake and back to camp. This was a long and gruelling day! On the third day we packed up our stuff and hiked back to civilization. It was a beautiful hike and I can't wait to go next year.
